One glance at this stylish kitchen and it becomes clear it’s the result of some pretty smart decisions
The first move in the right direction was the owners’ decision to enlist the help of Kitchen Choice to deliver their dream kitchen.
As the distributor of Nobilia International Germany, the company had an impressive range of panels and doors to show the owners. Wanting to stay as far away as possible from their darkly toned, traditional Tasmanian Oak kitchen, the owners selected gorgeous ultra high-gloss acrylic doors to brighten the space and settled on some 25mm matt shadow black panels to offset the lightly hued cabinets. Black glass in the overhead cabinets and back of island and the Cypress Granite benchtop also blend with the contemporary two-toned colour scheme. The mother-of-pearl mosaic-tiled splashback adds further interest to the space.
Designer Kordula Stuart had her work cut out for her throughout the planning process. Not only did she have to produce a modern design that suited the traditional-looking home, she was also presented with an oddly shaped space that required careful consideration. Kordula solved this problem by utilising a range of “smart” solutions, which included integrating the appliances into the layout. The integrated underbench refrigerators allow for maximum preparation space without encroaching on the wall space or compromising the open-plan design. The kitchen is also equipped with Hettich Innotech hardware and soft-close drawers to ensure it’s always functioning at the height of efficiency.
As night falls and the kitchen is illuminated by soft undercabinet task lighting, the owners can kick back after dinner with a nice glass of red, completely satisfied with their brand new kitchen.
