A contemporary design with a hint of retro

Designer Antonio Bisignano from Amano Homes has infused a ‘70s-style twist into this highly practical layout. Giving the kitchen a look of its own ensured the owners have been able to express their individual character in their new home.
By selecting a shade of green that is traditionally used in retro designs, two eras have successfully merged into one. To create an uplifting feel for this contemporary environment, the glass splashback was chosen in Lime Frost. Subtle trims in aluminium feature on the glass splashback and tie in with the aluminium handles that have been used for the overhead cabinets. Sleek stainless-steel Smeg appliances enhance the design and provide an understated touch of class.
Natural limestone cladding has been used for the front of the raised servery. The raw elements of the limestone complement the refined surface of the CaesarStone benchtops that have been chosen in Iced Snow. White Laminex doors and panels keep the colour scheme light and bright, at the same time as highlighting the vivid tones in the glass splashback.
This kitchen is the hub of the home so it was important to make sure it easily flowed to the surrounding rooms. One of the main design considerations was ensuring the layout could take advantage of the rear gardens as well as the adjoining entertaining area. This simple but efficient kitchen is now functional and central to the home’s high traffic areas.
