This country-style kitchen is given a French-Provincial feel, with the island table previously belonging to an old French patisserie
“For the new extension to their 1880s sandstone villa, the owners wanted the design longevity of a Shaker-style kitchen, complete with modern functionality and an industrial touch.
The focal point is an old patisserie table from France, which has a beautiful, rich natural wood surface. This striking piece of kitchen furniture sits proudly centre stage, surrounded by the neutral colours synonymous with the Shaker look. The soft Alpine Mist benchtops are in harmony with the polished concrete floors and clean white subway tiles.
A feeling of space and light is created through the use of a simple, limited colour palette, combined with high ceilings and ‘flat’-style cabinets. The black freestanding Smeg oven works in tandem with the workbench, while the integrated dishwasher and fridge are hidden from view. The result is a kitchen that celebrates simplicity and space in all its glory.”
