“These clients were having a new extension built that required a kitchen that would suit their bungalow-style home but be a real showpiece like a classic piece of furniture. However, it would need to be practical and efficient. It should also have good balance and symmetry but enough detail to create some movement in the design. A Hamptons-style theme was suggested with design flow created with the use of high open display units, colonial glazed glass doors under overhead spice shelves, together with a feature timber shelf under the breakfast bar. The practical element came from lots of drawers, built-in rubbish/recycling bins, detergent racks and a cook’s pantry for oils and sauces, along with a large pantry.”
