Everyone in the design industry (whether it be fashion, stationary or home design) is excited for Emerald
Pantone 17-5641, or Emerald as I prefer to call it, has just been announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2013. Pantone described its newly awarded colour as a lively, radiant and lush green, a colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of wellbeing, balance and harmony.
“Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other colour in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute®. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appeal tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors”.
Pantone is an internationally recognised authority on colour and creates and matches colours for the fashion, home and beauty industries. The company determines its top hue based on both how it’s already being used and a prediction of sustained popularity.
As with previously awarded colours, Emerald is set to designate fashion and beauty for this year as well as interior style and design. Consumers are encouraged to try this bold colour in a range of indoor or outdoor settings like accent walls, bedding, furniture and appliances. If you’re the more adventurous type, you could even try bold statements such as Emerald couches or dressing tables. This colour gives so many opportunities for funky or classic looks.
