“This European-inspired kitchen in Shoreham, Vic, tells a tale of exacting craftsmanship and modern style. The owners wanted something completely out of the ordinary – a Dutch-inspired, high-end design that integrates the timber-lined ceiling and support beams of their home. The craftsmanship is one of the kitchen’s greatest attributes with a timeless and seamless execution of joinery, cabinetry and detail. One’s eye is drawn immediately to the striped panels that envelope the kitchen. Each cupboard door has been made from several horizontal panels, which were hand-stained a slightly different shade to create a subtle striped effect. This is echoed with the panels to the front of the islands, resulting in a striking double layer of stripes. The craftsmanship of the cabinetry is matched by the two solid islands, which form an L-shape hinged by a solid butcher’s block. Custom-made shelves to one end of the islands and a wine rack to the other, add a personal touch. A nod to the home’s exterior features, sleek Caesarstone benchtops were chosen for a soft industrial look that balances the timber. The warm and dynamic interior is flooded with light from the large corner window, which glints off the sleek stainless-steel appliances, white glass splashback and fine-brushed nickel handles.”
