Waterco’s Electroheat MKV Ideal for Humid or Coastal Environments

Waterco’s Electroheat MKV heat pump now features a special coating that ensures high heat transfer and corrosion resistance for pool and spa owners living in humid or coastal environments.

“Corrosion causes a non-conducting layer to form over the coils, which reduces a heat pump’s heat exchange capacity and also results in leakage,” explains Adam Shelley, Zane Solar & Heating Manager. “Electroheat MKV’s advanced hydrophilic blue fin technology prevents coils from corroding as water droplets simply flow off the slippery, low surface tension.

“It also incorporates dual coil titanium heat exchanger technology,” he adds, “which provides greater surface area for increased heat transfer performance plus ensures total protection against erosion and corrosion.”

Additional improvements based on customer feedback include a robust exterior to reduce noise and vibration and a pressure gauge that indicates the level of refrigerant charge held within the unit. And to prevent condensation pooling around the unit, it now includes fitted spigots for drainage hose connection.

“Compared to gas and electric heaters, the Electroheat MKV pool heat pump range uses just a fraction of the energy to generate the same amount of heat and unlike solar heating; there is no reliance on the sun as the latent heat in the air is used,” says Shelley.
