Old meets new in this stylish yet classic pool and landscape design from Good Manors Pool + Gardens.
Altering the shape of the existing pool to better meet the owners’ needs and expectations, Good Manors Pools + Gardens achieved a synergy of clean lines and user friendly space. Simple and classic design elements create a stylish pool in direct connection to the entertaining area. Showcasing beautiful lush layered planting and the great use of timber finishings, the look and feel of this garden is calming and inspiring.
Good Manors Pools + Gardens’ design is centered on the owners’ need for a more practical family space. The former pool was approximately nine meters long with swim outs at both ends and a separate spa to one side. The pool dominated the area and access to the raised lawn area was difficult.
To achieve a better flow, the access steps to the raised lawn level needed to be directly connected to the main entertaining area of the garden. This was achieved by filling in the existing spa and shortening one end of the pool.
By doing this, Good Manors Pools + Gardens directly linked the two areas, creating a sense of cohesion between the old and the new.
The renovation design took into account that the client wanted to extend their living area to the overgrown and unused outdoor area. The new space needed to be suitable for teenagers lounging around the pool as well as for quiet reading and relaxing.
Greenery has been tiered to increase privacy to the pool area and it has been selected specifically for its pleasing aesthetics, adding to the high-quality of workmanship around the pool area.
Textured plants of varying scale and proportion have been strategically placed to complement the pool design and the hardwood spotted gum timber bench seating.
The timber benches both contrast and complement with the travertine tiles and the sandstone ballast that was hand-shaped on site to be used as a blade wall.
The pool itself was designed by Julian Bombadiere and features a MagnaPool filtration system and glistening sapphire blue ceramic 50mm x 50mm tiles from Amber Tiles, all being extremely functional and easy to maintain.
A notable feature of the pool area design is the inclusion of a laser-cut steel screen from Kif and Katast, which ties the timber areas and the pale travertine tiles into the space.
