In creating this pool, a close connection was forged with the adjacent outdoor room.

Port Phillip Pools believes a swimming pool must function as an extension of the home and offer the people who live there a complete entertaining area. These two objectives were certainly fulfilled in this impressive pool and spa combination located in the rear garden of a home in Sorrento, a popular suburb on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

The owners required a pool that would reflect their lifestyle and present immediate visual impact given its exposure and visibility from within the house and the adjacent outdoor room.

As the backyard was small, careful consideration was given to the placement of the pool (which measures 8m long by 3m wide) and spa (both fully tiled in aqua Coulson mosaics) to maximise the space and ensure a seamless integration with the home and the alfresco lounge and entertaining pavilion.

With a focus on entertaining, the 3m² spa was designed with a three-sided seat, wet edge, eight spa jets and floor blower. At night, LED lighting makes both the spa and pool a very appealing proposition, indeed.

The pool and spa coping is of Classicstone Hunter square-edge pavers, the colour picking up on the exterior of the house and defining the outline of the pool and spa against the surrounding timber decking. This timber decking extends into the outdoor room and to the outdoor dining area on the other side of the pool, making the whole space feel as one.

Port Phillip Pools created an area that has all the luxury of a resort while still complementing the style and feel of the home. It’s visually stunning, but also a wonderful place to sit back and relax in. What’s more, they’ve ensured that the heated pool and spa are expertly integrated with that modern must-have, the outdoor room.

Started by Ross Fuller in 1982, Port Phillip Pools designs pools in conjunction with owners and also works with landscape architects. The company ensures a close work relationship with the client throughout the every aspect of the project. Building 50 pools each year, Port Phillip Pools constructs on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, mainly in Portsea, Sorrento and Blairgowrie.
