Privacy, position and family entertainment were all considerations for the creation of this piece of paradise on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
With a busy work schedule, this Northern Beaches client wanted nothing more than to enjoy their precious free time with the family at home — and it doesn’t get much better in Sydney than overlooking the picturesque and iconic Palm Beach.
For their 5.6m-long pool, a rectangular modern design with a glass wall, the homeowner provided their own plans, which were then fine-tuned by Jade Swimming Pools for construction. “The pool was designed by the client in conjunction with his builder, with specific requirements for position, privacy and entertainment, while also taking advantage of the views,” explains John Daniel of Jade Swimming Pools.
Northern Beaches’ sites are notoriously steep and difficult to access and build on, and unfortunately this one was no exception. Due to the site’s difficult position on top of a hill and problematic access, machinery and large equipment had to be craned onto site by the builder. Other challenges included inclement weather during construction, the building works on site, and the limited access up to the block from the street.
“We worked in conjunction with the builder on site and although we faced difficult site conditions, we achieved a beautiful pool and surrounds on completion,” says John. The resulting creation is fully tiled in Ezarri tiles, with a handcrafted 9m-long stone-clad feature wall, in addition to a glass wall to the external side of the pool.
At Jade Swimming Pools, providing clients with their vision is a key ingredient to the company’s many years of success. Through in-depth consultations using 3D imaging, the team visually walk clients through their dream pool area before it is even built, ensuring the finished product remains true to its surroundings and the client’s needs.
John and Helen Daniel started Jade Swimming Pools and their son Matthew is now part of the team. The company currently builds between 50 and 60 pools a year due to a high volume over the past 12 months. Specific areas of construction range from the lower Blue Mountains to the Eastern Suburbs, Northern Suburbs, Hawkesbury, Western Suburbs and Inner West.
Jade specialises in family pools by creating the dream and bringing it to life, regardless of site difficulty, limited access, varying terrains or other site conditions. “After contract signing, we look at the quickest option for arranging approvals and plans (unless already approved, which occurs in some instances),” explains the Jade Pools team.
“Our aim is to start the excavation process within one to two weeks of approvals and after the excavation, steel work, plumbing and concreting, the shell sits for up to four weeks for curing before the cosmetic finishes to the pool commence. During the cosmetic stage, we install filtration and heating (if specified) and the fencing is then installed approved prior to the final finish being applied to the interior. In some instances, the clients will be building a new home and the pool is put on hold while the house is constructed. Then we return to finish the pool after the house is handed over.”
Jade Swimming Pools is a member of SPASA (NSW and ACT), the Housing Industry Association of NSW and the Master Builders Association of NSW.
