When the weekend arrives and it’s time for forget about the working week, there’s no better place for this Queensland family to relax than in their inviting pool, spa and backyard.
Annie and Jim are a mature couple with extended family who visit their home in Caboolture, Queensland. With work commitments that take them away frequently, they were after a pool that would be a highlight of their weekend downtime.
The Freedom President, a rectangular pool with large side seating bench, proved to be a great family package to suit the 620sqm flat site. “When reviewing the many fibreglass pool options on the market, we found that the Freedom President offered one of the best water deep-end depths of 2m to cater for taller persons,” say Annie and Jim.
The pool’s 9m-long swim area matches the large side bench seating spot, which is sloped to match the angle profile of the pool floor. The shallow end seating is 500mm deep, and the deep end is 600mm.
Freedom Pools & Spas installed the pool, spa, coping and surrounding pool tiles. Homeowner Jim and his brother, both with a strong trade background, installed most of the remaining outdoor/landscaping features, with the surrounding gardens styled in a low-upkeep manner. Closed paving areas connect all surrounding spaces but still offer defined lifestyle areas, such as the pool, barbecue, lounge and spa.
“This project was very unique due to the customers’ own design requirements,” explains Freedom Pools & Spas. “Most customers requiring a pool tend to design the surrounding areas after the fact, but this family already had a very strong vision of their entire outdoor living area and they did not want to stray off that path. They wanted the pool and outdoor living area to have clean lines with light areas, highlights of gardens and mood lighting at night.”
Some minor changes were required regarding the coping and surround tiles. Due to short supplies in the market and worldwide supply delays, the tiles first chosen from the supplier arrived outside the colour variation that Freedom Pools & Spas would usually allow. Therefore, Annie, Jim and Freedom decided to remove the coping tiles and re-lay a more suitable tile. “This delayed the overall project, but we delivered the correct style and finish of surround tile that the customer wanted,” says Freedom.
In addition to the Freedom President design that this family chose, Freedom also offers specialty products such as the Beach 7 and 8 pools that have a unique shallow beach entry to cater for young families, or those who simply want to enjoy the tropical holiday feel.
Freedom Pools & Spas was founded and is still family owned by Bob and Rona Biernat, who have more than 45 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality, Australian-made products. It is an Australia-wide company with manufacturers in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. The company has factory-direct display centres and agent-wide locations covering 90 per cent nationally.
