Kangaroo Point, a peaceful, prestigious suburb in Sydney’s beautiful Sutherland Shire, is home to some of the most luxurious waterfront properties in the area, and this stunning property was no exception.
However, the existing pool and spa required a dramatic transformation to ensure that they too were deserving of their prime position overlooking the Georges River.
“When these homeowners purchased their house, they wanted to update the pool as it looked dated and in need of a dramatic transformation,” explains Zeb Rodrigues, director of Artesian Pools. Their block slopes down gently to the water below, and the location of the pool and position of the spa above the pool give uninterrupted views of the Georges River.
“Their pool has been renovated using natural colours and tones that blend in with the surroundings, without detracting from the river views,” says Zeb. The 10m-long pool is now rectangular, with one side curving towards the 2.2m x 2.2m spa. The entire pool, spa and weir have all been re-tiled using Ezarri glass mosaics; the coping and pool surrounds were redone in travertine, and stone cladding installed on the feature walls. All equipment, including lighting, was replaced and updated. The spa was also modified, and a glass wall installed as a feature so that the water flows over the glass weir directly to the pool below.
The riverside renovation is now a perfect example of an outstanding pool and spa combination that complements its glorious waterfront surroundings in spectacular fashion. The project was awarded Best Pool Renovation — Open Price Category in the 2019 Master Builders Awards.
Designing a pool that is both functional and a feature of the property is very important to the team at Artesian Pools. Creating something that complements the home, with the best use of available space and adding value to the property, is integral to the company when carrying out any design.
