Everything a Queensland family needs to enjoy a relaxed alfresco lifestyle, with a dash of the Hamptons added in for good measure

Boasting a stylish Hamptons-inspired cabana, enticing swimming pool with submerged bench and gem-like interior, and expertly landscaped surrounds, this outdoor haven exudes a relaxed resort vibe. It perfectly meets the criteria of the homeowners, who, in the transformation of their backyard, requested more than just a pool.

“They wanted to fully utilise the space in the far-right corner of the block,” explains Beau Corp Aquatics & Construction co-director Matthew Harriden. “That meant not only a pool, but also a bespoke cabana and planting to provide privacy and wrap the area in green.”

Exuding clean lines and pared-back elegance, the new 8m x 4m pool was designed and built by Beau Corp, as was the cabana and landscaping. Combined, they perfectly complement the owners’ lifestyle and home.

The cabana, inspired by Hamptons-style architecture, features a classic gable roof, shutter-style louvres, whitewashed ceiling and a coastal colour scheme of mostly white with a subtle grey back wall. The family can enjoy the cabana while relaxing on the outdoor lounge furniture between swims or when entertaining.

Meanwhile, the pool is fully tiled with stunning, richly coloured Sukabumi stone, allowing the interior surface to shine in emerald and jade green. Beautiful green tones, slightly different on each tile, add to the ever-changing effect, and the stone’s durability and non-slip finish make them ideal for the pool’s interior.

Light-coloured granite coping and paving surrounding the pool extends to the cabana, and pale-coloured paving allows the rich colour of the pool tiles to claim centre stage. Access from the house to the pool is via the granite stepping-stone path that leads through a lush green lawn.

Speaking of landscaping, Matthew kept things simple and classic for the planting around the pool and cabana. “We used lily pillies because they grow quickly, create an excellent backdrop
of green and are a hardy native plant,” he says. “We also used Leylandi conifers along one side as they are a fast-growing evergreen plant, have a tall conical shape that doesn’t take up much space and we like the contrasting look of the darker green tones of the conifers against the paler tones of the lily pillies.”

Lighting inside the cabana and a pendant allows the space to be enjoyed after dark. The pool also includes submerged LED lighting and strategically placed lights among the landscaping.

Echoing the colour scheme of the home, the white of the cabana, the bright hue of the water, and the pale granite paving combine to create an understated and sophisticated aesthetic — one that can be enjoyed from every angle thanks to the frameless glass pool fence that provides uninterrupted garden views.

To ensure pool maintenance is as easy as possible, Beau Corp installed an e25 salt chlorinator and a Viron Active Glass Media filtration system from AstralPool. This lowers running costs and allows the owners to spend less time attending to pool maintenance. Additionally, the recycled glass crystals favoured by the Viron Active Glass Media system reduce risk of bacteria build-up.
