A Negative-Edge Pool & Spa on a Bush Facing Block

BUSH BLISS – The hustle and bustle of Sydney’s ever-growing Hills District is a world away for this young family when they return home to their negative-edge pool and spa on a bush-facing block.

Presented with a vacant site that offered a steep slope from front to back, Jade Pools designed this pool and spa project to take advantage of the slope by creating a negative edge that looks down towards the scenic bush views at the rear.

The homeowners, in Sydney’s Hills District, have young children and a busy lifestyle and their modern rectangular pool with step area and spa allows them to entertain or simply relax and enjoy the tranquil views of the trees.

This was all made possible by Jade Pools, whose sales consultant provided 3D images of how the 10m-long pool, spa and catch tank would look on their block. “This was a great way to give the client a visual interpretation of how the construction would look once completed,” explains John Daniel of Jade Pools.

Unfortunately, the council submission took longer than anticipated and the design had to be refined as the proposed height was not acceptable. “However, we were still able to achieve the negative-edge design that the client desired and after having the project on hold for more than a year while the house was being constructed, we returned to complete the project in a timely manner,” says John.

At Jade Swimming Pools, providing clients with their vision is a key ingredient to the company’s many years of success. Through in-depth consultations using 3D imaging, the team from Jade Swimming Pools visually walks clients through their dream pool area before it is even built, ensuring the finished product remains true to its surroundings and the client’s needs.
This approach has seen Jade Swimming Pools win several SPASA and Master Builders Association awards over the years at metropolitan, state and national levels, including 11 accolades in 2018 at the SPASA NSW and ACT Awards. Most recently, Jade won highly commended for Enclosed/Indoor Pool and also Sustainable Project at the 2019 SPASA NSW and ACT Awards.

John and Helen Daniel started Jade Swimming Pools and construct between 40 and 50 pools a year. The company builds in Sydney’s metropolitan area, including the Blue Mountains, down to Sutherland and the Camden region, eastern suburbs and northern suburbs to Berowra.

The company specialises in family pools by creating the dream and bringing it to reality, regardless of limited access, varying terrains or other site conditions.

Jade Swimming Pools is a member of SPASA (NSW and ACT), the Housing Industry Association of NSW and the Master Builders Association of NSW.
