Amidst the madness and mayhem, The Block contestants have been seeking peace and quiet in furniture showrooms and in the confines of their Suzuki run-arounds. In an unfortunate series of events, this week’s challenge saw the Blockheads hang around with a bunch of screaming and highly energetic primary school kids to make playfully themed planter boxes. The new vegetable garden for the local primary school needed citrus trees, herbs, vegetables and native plants all housed in “creative, functional and mobile” planter boxes.

Given the native plants to work with, Chantelle and Steve continued with the Australian theme to create a Ned Kelly planter box, finished with bullet holes and a metal bucket helmet.

Judged by returning All Stars champions Amity and Phil, Chantelle and Steve (displaying jaw dropped expressions) were awarded their first win of the series due to their Ned Kelly masterpiece, pocketing a much needed $3000 cash, I that Steve might now be slightly more motivated to sort out their budget, and pay some of those tradies who have been slugging their guts our for week!

If you were inspired by last night’s challenge, download the link below for a step-by-step guide by Ryobi to creating your very own planter box design! All the materials needed can be purchased from Bunnings and when you’re finished, we would love to see it, so please share images via Facebook or Twitter!

Laterz Blockheads!
