The prospect of entertaining or relaxing outdoors has never been so appealing with these stylish, supremely comfortable outdoor sofas, sun lounges, daybeds and more from Contemporary Classics. From beautiful dining settings and comfy lounge suites to handy side tables and chic pod chairs, there’s a broad variety of outdoor pieces to suit every taste and the quality is second to none.

“We specialise in outdoor furniture that has been handwoven by artisans and made with comfort and quality in mind. We offer a diverse range of pieces with the emphasis on classic ‘forever’ designs at affordable prices, ensuring you can find something to suit any outdoor space,” says Grant Furniss, founder of Contemporary Classics.

All pieces are sourced from five major suppliers — Bloom-Outdoor, Sedex, Mazuvo, Skyline and Yamakawa — all well-established, well-known international brands. As a result, customers can avail themselves of an impressive and extensive choice of shapes, sizes, colours and styles. Quality is another thing customers can expect.

“Our focus has always been on sourcing handmade products worthy of the most stylish outdoor spaces. Our aim is to provide homeowners with all-weather furniture that is beautiful, timeless, comfortable and long-lasting,” says Grant.

“After 30 years of importing handwoven designs we have the highest standards and source only those ranges that have exceptionally tight, precise weaving and use fibres that will stand up to the harsh Australian environment. In particular, we only use products that have been UV-tested using German technology.”

Adds Grant, “We can custom-size a lot of the models and single-piece orders can be made. Because of our long history of importing handmade furniture, we have forged strong relationships with our suppliers which gives us the flexibility to offer special productions. As for standard pieces, if we don’t have them in stock they can be ordered with lead times of eight to 16 weeks for most products.”

Aimed at the design-savvy homeowner, Contemporary Classics’ outdoor furniture can be used as a feature of a garden or as a starting point for an outdoor design, says Grant. “Why not use the furniture as your focal point and design the background to support it? This can be an easy way to find inspiration for an outdoor design,” he suggests.

“Or you can design your space and then choose pieces, large and small, from our comprehensive range to complement the design and create a comfortable space that people will want to stop and enjoy. Classic woven products continue to be in demand and suit homes of all styles, from modern and minimalist to resort-style and traditional.”

Established in 1990, the New Zealand-based company recently extended its reach to Australia, opening its first store in Surfers Paradise, Queensland. The showroom is open seven days a week, so pop in to see what’s on offer or you can visit the website.
