Ideal for acreage and large suburban blocks, the Hamptons facade of this home is aimed at lovers of country style.
There is a quiet, understated elegance about a Hamptons home that has captured the hearts of Australian homeowners. It’s a classic look that combines coastal and country elements, which means it won’t date and is ideal for any location, from the beach to the mountains.
Queensland-based, family-owned DRHomes has been designing and selling Hamptons-style homes for several years, adapting what is a traditional American architectural approach to meet the needs of its key market — families looking for acreage homes. Their latest release is the Delaney 39 Haven.
“Hamptons is the big thing at the moment, and we specialise in acreage homes, so we put the two together. Now, Hamptons-style homes represent the bulk of what we sell,” says David Reilly, Director of DRHomes. “We had a Hamptons design in a display village about four years ago but after we shut it down we thought we’d build a new one, give the design a revamp and include a range of improvements. This evolved into the new Delaney.”
The Delaney 39 Haven, which is on display at Spring Mountain Acreage Estate in Greenbank, about a 20-minute drive from Brisbane, has a Hamptons-inspired facade that gives it an abundance of street appeal. The weatherboard-style exterior cladding, the gable roof lines, porthole detail, Colonial windows and colour palette all say Hamptons. Adding textural interest and a rustic touch that’s ideal for acreage homes, stacker stone was used to clad a feature wall at the home’s entrance and the base of several support columns.
For the roof, DRHomes chose Monier’s classical flat Horizon concrete tiles. “We are finding more and more of our customers are choosing a tiled roof for Hamptons-style homes because it fits in with their aesthetic and they appreciate the quality provided by tiles,” says David. As slate is the traditional roofing material for Hamptons homes, the charcoal tones of Monier’s Horizon tile in Sambuca and Barramundi is the best way to create an authentic Hamptons look.
Inside, the Delaney 39 Haven is spacious, airy and light as you would expect of a Hamptons-inspired home, although the look is more contemporary. When you open the double entry doors you find yourself inside a thoughtfully designed, four-bedroom home with a media room, games room, study and open-plan living/dining area that flows out to a fully-tiled space designed for outdoor entertaining.
The kitchen, located next to the dining/living area, emphasises fresh white surfaces — a look characteristic of Hamptons homes — but here the design is more modern and clean-lined. With its ample Caesarstone benchtops, 900mm stainless steel appliances and scullery, it provides everything today’s at-home cook demands.
For the living areas, you have a choice of plank flooring or ceramic tiles. In the generous bedrooms, there is quality carpeting. The minor bedrooms all feature built-in cupboards while the master suite at the front of the home has a roomy ensuite with a double shower and double vanity as well as a walk-in robe.
While the Delaney 39 Haven comes with a raft of quality standard inclusions, customisation is possible. “Most of our customers are looking at their third or fourth home — their forever home — and they often want to customise our standard designs because they know what they need and want by this stage of their real estate journey,” says David.
So, if you’re seeking a home that blends Hamptons style with refined modern country living — one that can be customised to meet your family’s individual needs — the new Delaney 39 Haven is it.
