Designed by Fraser Paxton Architects, this 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, single-storey project was installed in two days and assembled on-site over a week.
It was cleverly designed so that it could be built next to the existing dwelling without disrupting the lifestyle of the occupier, who remained at home throughout the construction.
Once the timber floor cassettes were installed, the kids went to school and came home to find their new extension already assembled in place. The following day the roofing was installed, the building was sealed and ready for the fit out. The final element of the project was to cut a hole into the wall to allow access to a connecting walkway that leads through to the new extension.
The project features multiple Fixed Lite windows to flood the home’s living spaces with natural light and the exterior landscape. Casement windows allow precise control of cooling breezes which promote cross flow ventilation and awning windows have been specified in rooms that abut an exterior path or walkway, sitting high above Fixed Lite Windows to ensure ventilation does not compromise the external living space.
