Meticulous attention to detail and an innovative design are the hallmarks of this cutting edge display home

In the thriving rural town of Warragul, nestled in the heart of Victoria’s Gippsland region, sits a multi-award-winning cutting edge display home — the Acura 38. This cutting edge design from Virtue Homes not only delivers the latest in modern family living, it shows the high calibre of work being produced by regional builders.

“This is a large four-bedroom family home with an open living design. As well suited to families with small children as it is for those with teenagers, it incorporates a raft of multifunctional spaces, such as the separate rumpus. This is connected to the entry hall which gives parents easy access to supervise young children, or provides a sense of separation for older children seeking a private living zone,” says Nerida Hamilton, General Manager, Virtue Homes.

Stylish and sophisticated, the display home is a showcase for design innovation and the kitchen is a stellar example of this. “A curved Caesarstone island bench is the focal point of the kitchen,” says Nerida. “And cleverly hidden behind a wall of custom-designed joinery is a fully equipped pantry with two fridges, one for wine. Industrial strength Hafele floor hinges enable the pantry doors to open both ways, making entering and exiting the pantry easy, and electronic push-button overhead cupboards make smart use of the available storage space.”

In the main living area and master bedroom, 3m-high windows welcome in an abundance of natural light. These windows are double glazed and the bottom sills have been removed to create a seamless look. Feature batten walls were also employed in both the master bedroom and living space, adding a touch of Zen to both spaces.

A special feature of the living room is the streamlined Rinnai Sapphire fireplace whose surrounds have been given a Unitex rendered five-coat finish. Similar attention to detail can be seen the master bedroom’s custom-designed walk-in robe. Fitted by a cabinet maker, it incorporates drawer units, shoe racks and dual hanging areas.

“The luxurious master ensuite is also a talking point, with its resort-style feature shower complete with skylight and a decked base set amid rocks,” adds Nerida. “Custom-made hand-poured concrete basins were made to fit the vanity unit and these are complemented by timber feature walls and battens stained in a rich, dark finish.”

This is a home that impresses from the very moment you step through the 3m-high, 1.6m-wide glass pivot entry door. “As you enter, you are met with a soaring 3.6m-high ceiling fitted with three large fixed-glass Velux windows that span the length of the hallway leading to the living space. A feature glass internal wall separates the entry from this space and is a clever design feature that keeps the long entryway feeling light and open,” says Nerida.

Winner of the 2021 HIA Victorian Display Home of the Year, the 2021 MBA Victorian Display Home of the Year, and a finalist for 2021 MBA National Display Home of the Year, the Acura 38 is a treasure trove of original design ideas, cutting-edge concepts and an outstanding example of high quality, meticulously detailed workmanship.
