This sophisticated two-storey home was built on a sloping block that once formed part of a golf course.
This posed challenges beyond the norm for Eastbuild Designer Homes, all of which were so expertly resolved, the project won Home of the Year in the 2020 HIA-CSR North Queensland Housing, Kitchen & Bathroom Awards, as well as a plethora of other state and regional honours.
The client’s brief was to achieve maximum light with an emphasis on cross ventilation, create a feeling of grandeur and spaciousness, include cantilevered decks and a pool, and, most importantly, capture views that would connect every room with the outside space. Eastbuild ticked each of these boxes, despite the complexities involved.
As you wander through the home, your eye is drawn to the cantilevered lap pool that ‘swims’ into the dining and lounge rooms. The raked ceilings, which reach up to five metres high, the large sheets of glass that capture the magnificent views, and the high-level louvres that promote cross ventilation also command your attention.
Ultra-contemporary with clean lines, the rooms blend effortlessly together. This seamless flow is enhanced by the large wall of bifold doors that open onto the alfresco entertaining deck and the defining angled, winged walls that transport you to the gardens beyond.
The collective exterior aspects of the floating tiled front steps, the black metal archways and the tiled feature garden wall that is married to the enormous tiled column, all carry your eye to the second level. Once there, you are captivated by what you see, in particular, the spectacular cantilevered lap pool and the viewing glass.
The home boasts a sleek modern kitchen with an integrated butler’s pantry. The kitchen also features a ceiling bulkhead that works beautifully with the raked ceiling. The grey and white palette is accentuated by the sheen of stainless steel appliances and the mirror-like pendant lights above the benchtop.
As for the bathrooms, luxurious is the first word that springs to mind. In fact, the awards’ judges were so impressed by the opulent ensuite, it won Bathroom of the Year at both state and regional levels.
With stunning floor-to-ceiling tiling and a spacious balcony, the air-conditioned ensuite features an expansive stacker glass door wall affording skyline and mountain views. A luxurious freestanding bath is offset by the ceiling-height feature wall with its illuminated decorative niche. Stylish bathroom fittings complement the modern design and concrete porcelain tiles and natural light oak timber cabinetry add to the mesmerising effect.
The end result is an impressive, innovative and multi-award-winning home that works all the angles and has successfully resolved all the challenges, thanks to the expertise of Eastbuild Designer Homes.
