DesignBUILD is offering a rare opportunity to visit Sydney’s $1.5 billion International Convention Centre, gain behind the scene access and hear from the ICC’s key designers.

In terms of professional development – it doesn’t get much better than this.

DesignBUILD will be the first building and architectural event to be held at the ICC which was designed by HASSELL + Populous for the Darling Harbour Live consortium, comprising Lendlease, HOSTPLUS, First State Super, Capella Capital, AEG Ogden and Spotless which is partnering with the NSW Government to create Australia’s premier convention, exhibition and events destination, ICC Sydney.

The keynote speaker has been confirmed as Michael Lockwood, the Design Director of Populous’ global Convention Centre team, who will be leading 2 sessions in the program.

Michael Lockwood will be joined by other notable speakers including:

  • Graeme Spencer, HASSELL – ‘ICC – Transformative Facades’
  • Anthony Burke, University of Technology Sydney – ‘What’s New in Building Technology’
  • Georgia Sedgemen, Tract Consultants – ‘Liveable Sydney 2021’
  • Mal Corboy, Mal Corboy Interior Designs NZ – ‘Luxury and Innovation’
  • David Baggs, Global Green Tag – Product Led Climate Recovery

The two speaker theatres and an incubator pavilion are being designed via DesignBUILD RAW an exciting initiative launched in 2017 to showcase the very best of emerging talent. It is run in partnership with the University of New South Wales, University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney.

At only $25 per seminar, the program offers unparalleled value. You can also top up your informal refuel points from the AIA by attending the seminars and attendees can also top up their MBA CPD points simply by attending the expo.

The speaker program is also open to delegates of DesignBUILD plus delegates from the National Architecture Conference and the PIA National Congress.

A full series of behind-the-scenes tours, hosted by joint venture architects HASSELL + Populous and the ICC Sydney team will also supplement the education opportunities onsite.
