Taking inspiration from the local architecture and existing tin sheds, this contemporary barn house originally served as the property’s original stables.
Seeking a departure from urban life and embracing a lifestyle centred around a working farm, the homeowners collaborated closely with a team of builders and architects to craft a residence that harmonized with the surrounding landscape of West Gippsland.
Both the interior and exterior elements of the house were meticulously chosen to reflect the local environment. As a result, Yellow Stringybark cladding was selected for the exterior, enhancing the home’s connection to the region. To achieve a desired weathered appearance, the timber cladding was coated with CUTEK®’s Extreme CD50 and tinted using the Black Ash Colourtone, creating a striking contrast with the vibrant red barn door.
Beyond its visual appeal, the application of CUTEK® Extreme CD50 in combination with a double-strength Black Ash CUTEK® Colourtone offers comprehensive protection against the harsh Australian weather conditions while showcasing the innate beauty of the timber. CUTEK® oils are specially formulated to deeply penetrate the wood, safeguarding it from within and minimizing maintenance requirements, thus prolonging the lifespan of the cladding and reducing the need for replacements in the long run.
