Combining laid-back luxury with a flexible floor plan, Clarendon’s Sheridan 36 is an inviting family home of timeless appeal
The Sheridan 36 is a well-proportioned two-storey home that pleases the eye, but more importantly says “welcome”. Designed for effortless entertaining and relaxed family living, the home has an easy flow, and a classic contemporary look. This gives the design a timeless appeal.
Ideal for families of four or more, the Sheridan 36 is an impressive design. It offers five living zones and five bedrooms, plus a sixth bedroom should you choose to convert the downstairs study. Making this design even more suitable for multigenerational families is the option to forgo having a ground-floor home theatre and, instead, have a fully integrated, self-contained internal granny flat.
“A sense of place and space”
When designing the Sheridan 36, Clarendon Homes aimed for an abode in which everyone has the opportunity to spend time on their own or congregate with family members. “Perfectly configured for the way families like to live, the ground floor hosts numerous living areas,” says Carolyn Piggott, Clarendon Homes’ interior design manager. “The hub of family life is the open-plan kitchen, which gives command of the meals and family rooms as well as the alfresco, ensuring an easy indoor-outdoor flow. This is perfect for large gatherings and gives the home a sense of place and space.”
The gourmet kitchen truly is an entertainer’s dream. It has a generous Quantum Quartz Bianco Benato island bench with waterfall ends which sits in strong contrast to the wenge timber laminate cabinetry, cool stainless-steel appliances and mirror splashback, all of which combine to give the kitchen a sophisticated air. Adding to the room’s light-filled functionality is a stylish butler’s pantry.
“Moving up to the first floor, the study, with its double entry doors, leads to a multifunctional zone offering creative storage solutions — an ideal location for a home office or dedicated homework space,” says Carolyn. “What’s more, the five bedrooms on the first floor offer articulated zones, giving children plenty of room to enjoy their own space.” This is also where you will find the luxury master suite with his and hers walk-in robes and a generous ensuite featuring a double-bowl vanity and a roomy double shower.
Subtle sophistication
Of the home’s interior design, Carolyn says, “The subtle mix of contemporary and classic furniture pieces, combined with a muted variety of layered patterns, plaids, leather, layers of texture and pops of colour through cushions and accessories, provide a sense of casual luxury. The well-considered colour palette and statement furniture pieces showcase strong timber tones with vivid accents of deep burgundy and tones of creamy taupe as well as moody charcoal, winter white, tans, lush olive green and deep navy.
“The living room,” she continues, “portrays a classic-meets-modern theme, ensuring a statement living space complete with a sleek stone fireplace for the cooler months and a comfortable duo of plush sofas — perfect for parents looking for a place of retreat.”
Great care was taken in the selection of materials and finishes to imbue the home with a sense of subtle sophistication. This can be seen in the European Oak grey-wash timber flooring and charcoal-coloured Victorian carpet. “For a dash of drama, there are feature walls and statement wallpapers,” adds Carolyn, “and there is a continuous theme of ceramic finishes which ooze luxury.” The end result is a home of dateless design that will see your family through multiple generations.
