Intriguing with its contemporary exterior, inviting with its warmth and enticing with its seamless living spaces, the smart design of this property proves comfort and grandeur can indeed co-exist.
With their two children grown up, the homeowners desired a new house for their new season of life. Handing over their love for clean lines, light-filled rooms and open living, they gave the designers free reign to create something they would fall in love with.
Now rising from what once was an empty wedge-shaped block, the geometric form and neutral palette of this design capture the eye with an origami-like beauty. Underlining the horizon with crisp lines, and featuring cascading levels and landscaped gardens, the house belies the difficulties of a tight, unlevel property.
In fact, openness seems to abound. With four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a home theatre, lift, conservatory and generous four-car garage, not to mention numerous living spaces, every aspect of this property meets the homeowners’ vision for a luxurious yet comfortable home.
The front door boasts a meandering water feature, then the interior takes on a free-flowing quality. Porcelain polished floors, high ceilings, broad windows and a cohesive colour scheme create open, sun-soaked rooms.
White is used in abundance. Far from bland, it forms a bold contemporary backdrop and suggests that grandeur doesn’t have to be shouted. Against this minimalist canvas, pockets of coloured accessories add pops of personality, while carefully selected furnishings, such as the Noah table by Fanuli and the Roca Georgia freestanding bath, feature as sculptural statement pieces.
