Following the purchase of a block of land, the owner-builders decided they wanted to have a hands-on approach when it came to building their new family home and complete control over the design of its interior. After seeing The Richmond, the owners knew this was the perfect design to suit their needs and lifestyle and, combined with Kitome’s flexibility, easily customised floorplans and wide range of available upgrades, the decision to take the next step closer to building their dream home was an easy one.
With a growing family, one of the couple’s main priorities was for their new home to offer spacious living areas and bedrooms so that each family member could enjoy plenty of room to move and an airy space of their own. To achieve this, the owners worked closely with the Kitome team to customise the design and together decided to swell the size of the rooms to match their requirements and ensure the generous-sized home serves the family well for many years to come.
When collaborating with Kitome, the owners also opted to upgrade several of the home’s standard features, including the front and interior doors, cornices, and handles to create a more luxurious, resort-like feel throughout the home. They also chose to remove several of the posts lining the wrap-around verandah and replace the remaining posts with thicker supports.

“We live in a nice street with quality homes and wanted a kit home that would look just as good as any architecturally designed home,” Rebecca says when explaining why she loves her new Kitome residence. “We’re very happy with the home, especially because we did so much of it ourselves. Everyone had a part in the building process, even our three young kids. At this stage, no one can imagine living anywhere else. Even the kids say they’ll live here forever!”
