Warm and welcoming: kitchen design

Overhead cabinets, angled peninsula bar and glass overheads are just a taste of what this kitchen has to offer

Improved storage, function and aesthetics were the main points of the brief from the owners of this renovation. They wanted a contemporary twist on a traditional-style kitchen, to be sympathetic to the age of the home. They also wanted to incorporate their favourite colour blue into the design.

A new layout was designed to create space for drawers, storage and better interaction with the dining area. The new kitchen feels more open with base and overhead cabinets on the cooktop run unbroken by tall elements and glass overheads, for maximum flow. The angled peninsula bar opens up room for the dining area and provides plenty of bench space for kitchen preparation and use of the breakfast bar. The overall aesthetic of this space is contemporary yet it fits with the warmth and character of the rest of the home.”
