Stephen Chandler, founder of Perth Splashbacks, has earned an enviable reputation for creating coloured glass splashbacks that can transform a kitchen. A glazing specialist with more than 28 years’ experience, Stephen decided to explore the potential for coloured-glass splashbacks when clients began expressing an interest in incorporating design elements into their kitchens that would be a little bit different – unique, even. Glass splashbacks open up a world of design possibilities. They reflect and refract light, creating intriguing light patterns and enhancing the sense of space in a kitchen. The success of Perth Splashbacks lies squarely with UK-born Stephen, who hails from a family of carpenters and cabinet makers. After completing his cabinet-making apprenticeship, he worked in the kitchen cabinetry and window trades. During this time, he gained valuable experience working with stained-glass windows in historic homes and churches. Next he worked in double-glazing, after which he established a business that offered a full suite of renovation services including carpentry, cabinet-making, glazing, double-glazing, plastering, bricklaying, roofing, flooring and conservatory installations.
Today, Stephen, who has a Master Glazier AGGA/Australian Certification III in Glass Glazing and Joinery, oversees Perth Splashbacks, a family-owned and -operated business that can create and install coloured-glass splashbacks as well as toughened mirror splashbacks, printed splashbacks and shower screens. The company also offers glass repairs and can save you time and disruption by installing a new rangehood in tandem with your one-of-a-kind splashback.
