“When your kitchen boasts harbor views 25 floors above bustling inner-east Sydney, its design has to be bold and memorable. Working with interior designer Margaret Hughes, I took my cue from the striking black marble tiles on the kitchen floor and chose a black and white decor to match. The white island bench with waterfall ends provides a stark contrast to the surrounding floor and adjacent tall cabinets. It also provides essential workspace while housing the dishwasher, sink and a breakfast bar for three. In keeping with the full-gloss look of the kitchen, ULTRAglaze Phantom Black was chosen as the finish for the tall cabinets on both sides, and white Starfire glass as the splashback above the cooktop and microwave. Routed drawers and doors on the floor and wall cabinets and a solid surface finish on all benchtops enhance the seamless elegance of the design. The tall cabinets opposite the main work area hide a bar space for entertaining guests before or after dinner.”
