Traditional kitchen upgrade for a young family in Melbourne

This kitchen in a family home in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs needed to be brought out of the 1990s. A basic set-up with outdated melamine doors was in need of an urgent upgrade.

With Kitchens U Build leading the project along with designer Alisha Stewart, the first order of business was removing the old doors. This allowed for better use of space, with an open-plan layout allowing for separate areas for the young family to utilise.

Plenty of storage space to hide kitchen clutter was also a must. Vauth-Sagel’s pull-out bins provide a clever solution to packed drawers, with their spice racks making cooking and tidying easier. Janper’s Thompson three cabinet doors, in classic white matt, add a timeless look to the traditional-style kitchen.

With a subway tile splashback in herringbone the perfect choice for a classic kitchen, the simple colour palette has brightened up the space. Traditional mouldings around the rangehood also helped create a seamless design.

The Smartstone Concreto Avorio benchtop’s stamp of modern luxury draws the eye to the centre of the room, a place for the family to come together.
