Slick and futuristic kitchen design

Gallery

This kitchen showroom display demonstrates the stunning effect DuPont Corian can have when used to create a futuristic-style kitchen.

Installed at the home of Victoria’s Urban Kitchens, the brief was to prove to customers the unique properties of Corian, which is a solid, seamless, non-porous material made from natural minerals and acrylic resin.

The showpiece of this installation is the main Corian island bench in Glacier White – one of 130 colours on offer. A sleek and futuristic feature created in the 80mm version of the material, its unusual curved finish not only makes the showroom stand out from its competitors, but also exhibits the must-have material that is Corian in spectacular style.

Con chose traditional two-pack cabinets for underneath the benchtop, and finished the look with LED lighting.

Another aspect of the design demonstrates Corian’s ability to be joined seamlessly. This unique property meant the designer was able to create an office desk that appears to be floating through a pane of glass. It also saw two colours with the same grain glued together to create a trendy and seamless finish for the office desk area of the showroom ‑ a design element that demonstrates Corian’s strength and durability in a busy area. And while Corian can stand up to heavy use, should it scratch or chip, it’s easily repairable.

Fabrication: Cook and Nation

Corian colours: Natural Grey, Cirrus White, Rain Cloud, Glacier White
