Real kitchen: Moroccan delight

This kitchen design has managed to refresh a 1950s home in Avalon, spicing it up with Moroccan elements

The clients brief for this small kitchen was for the design to incorporate storage requirements, create a string sense of functionality while being individual in it’s decor. The results are perfect for the client: a clever kitchen that uses space effectively, with great storage solutions and a gorgeous interior design.

The key with the Moroccan theme was to keep it simple in such a small space: anything too busy and it might’ve overcrowded the kitchen. By keeping the style to neutral and monochromatic tones, it allows the patterns and materials to shine. the choice of Vivid White cabinets and matching Smartstone bench-top create an elegant effect against some of the more decorative elements. The carved rangehood, in an iconic Moroccan shape, is a feature of the space – turning a normally pedestrian element of any kitchen (the rangehood) into a true stunner. And this facet was created and placed specifically to be framed by the door that opens to the living room, carrying the look throughout the home.

This kitchen design overcame the restrictions of limited space, two entries and a tight budget while meeting the clients’ requirements. The result is a unique kitchen design that explores the new possibilities for contemporary kitchens.

The client has “recommended Art of Kitchens to two friends who were delighted with the results”. Overall, she felt extremely happy with the design of her kitchen, because her requirements were met and her expectations exceeded.
