Period-style palace: kitchen design

Gallery

In this stylish kitchen period pieces have been updated with modern textures and bold metallics for a unique design

“The focus of this big, bold kitchen is the beautiful island bench. This being a new build, the options were limitless, but the owners wanted a large, period-style design with plenty of storage.

The sheer size of the space was a challenge, but alternating shades of white and a butler’s pantry in which to tuck away clutter keep the overall look streamlined and extremely versatile. Favoured items can be easily displayed in the glass-fronted wall cabinets, which are a perfect idea for passionate decorators, and the huge space allows for plenty of bench space — a dedicated home cook’s dream!

A generous retro chimneypiece placed around an upright stove and inlaid with quartzite provides a touch of the grandiose, but the design is ultimately brought back to the modern era by clever use of sleek modern appliances and accessories.”
