Minimalist kitchen design that makes a striking statement

Functionality and practicality meet minimalist design in this striking statement kitchen from Mint Kitchen Group.

“The homeowners entertain often and needed the kitchen to be functional and practical, but also make a statement. They wanted to keep a minimalist look as the kitchen was located in the modern back extension of this period-style home. With two young children, storage was also an important request. One of the kitchen’s main features is the floor-to-ceiling “block” cabinets with push-to-open fittings, internal drawers and two fully integrated Liebherr fridges. The cabinets also act as a wall divider with the powder room on the other side fully concealed from the family dining areas. The Calacatta marble benchtops and splashbacks are another dominant feature. With both the flooring and walls being quite dark, we needed something to “open” the space up. Marble selection was a huge challenge as it took months to source the right slabs that had the length and clean patterns through them to create the matching and butterfly effect on the island bench and splashbacks. The space below the stairs, adjacent to the kitchen, was another challenge — we converted this into a very user-friendly butler’s pantry complete with sink, second microwave and wine fridge. The colour palette and feel of the kitchen work well in this architect-designed space.”
