This light bright kitchen design combines period and modern styles to create something new
“The introduction of light and space has completely transformed the central living area of this Inner West suburban terrace house in Sydney. My job was to build upon the innovative design of architect Pierre Della Putta, from Architects Ink and to create a functional, user-friendly kitchen/dining area.
A white palette was chosen for all cabinet and benchtop surfaces to enhance the flood of natural light and to contrast with and complement the richness of polished recycled floorboards used throughout the house. A galley-style kitchen design harks back to the Victorian heritage of the building but a central island bench gives a modern twist, allowing easy access to appliances and more food preparation and entertainment space. To fulfil the client’s brief for more storage areas, large soft-close drawers were included below the benchtop, handleless wall cabinets above and tall cabinets at either end. The result is a streamlined, clutter-free design which is perfect for dining and entertaining whether indoors or out.”
