Not all kitchen benchtops are created equal, and given they encounter the full spectrum of family life — from food prep to tomato sauce splashes and myriad children’s craft experiments — finding a surface that’s up to the task is an important design decision.
Such considerations were key to designer Beau Small’s inclusion of Staron Solid Surfaces throughout this family kitchen. Having previously used the non-porous, durable, hygienic, UV-stable, easily-repairable surface in commercial projects and shop fitouts, it seemed the obvious choice for creating not only the countertop, but also the splashback and integrated sink in this residential installation.
The result is clean and minimalist, with warmth retained thanks to the subtle veining of the Supreme Ocean View colour selection (from the vast Staron colour range), and the complementary spotted gum veneer panelling and cabinetry. Additional two-pack polyurethane cabinets and drawers with integrated handles and a bold matching bulkhead help to frame the space, with high-quality appliances and a brass mixer incorporated to add functionality and interest.
The combination makes for a durable, easy-clean kitchen set to see its owners through many years of weeknight meals, homework projects and celebratory entertaining.
