Functional. Timeless. Warm. These were the three words that made up the brief for this kitchen, and it’s clear the designer honoured them.
Indeed, with its breezy feel, fuss-free palette and clever floor plan, it’s safe to assume that Steven Rapley of Kitchen Crew exceeded the owners’ expectations.
The combination of cabinetry in Polytec Woodmatt in Plantation Ash and crisp white two-pack polyurethane blends beautifully with the natural Chambord Grey limestone that comprises the countertops and the island’s waterfall edging. It’s a look that’s further enhanced by the ripples of the Laminex Demi Round panelling, inset into the breakfast bar, which continues the linear theme of the woodgrain door fronts and combines with brass gooseneck mixers to add extra elements of warmth and subtle texture.
Integrated appliances and handles blend in seamlessly, and a floor-to-ceiling window showcasing the swimming pool adds to the relaxed ambience. The resulting resort-like feel offers timeless appeal, but it’s the floor plan that really delivers on functionality.
Presenting as a standard galley layout at first glance, a discreet nook at one end reveals extra storage and bench space, a preparation zone and a second sink. It also opens to a stunning wine cellar, complete with cocktail station, intended for effortless entertaining.
The overall effect is a kitchen that’s exceedingly functional, utterly timeless and inherently warm.
