A Little Bit of Country Influence on this Kitchen

Gallery

Having learned lessons from the impracticalities of a previous kitchen renovation, the owners of this charming modern country kitchen were clear on their requirements from the outset.

A durable, easy-clean benchtop and lots of deep drawers featured on their list of essentials, and designer Ashley Maddison, of AM Interior Studio, gladly took their wishes into account, measuring key appliances to ensure drawers catered to their depth. At her suggestion, Taj Mahal quartzite was also applied to the countertops and splashback to achieve the natural marble-look the clients preferred, without the fussy maintenance.

Teamed with a fireclay sink and joinery, in Polytec Boston Oak veneer and two-pack VJ groove in Resene Alabaster, the light-toned stone reinforces the sophistication of the countrified aesthetic, which is further elevated by the inclusion of brass accents at the handles and the Bezzoni Time kitchen mixer.

Brass infuses elegance through the lighting too, featuring in the stunning Elstead Lighting Provence wall sconces, set either side of the encased exhaust, and in the Hudson Valley Latham pendants above the island bench.

At the owner’s request, a sit-down preparation space has been incorporated by wrapping seating around the island, adding further to the functionality of the zone, which is well appointed with a walk-in pantry, Liebherr refrigerator and Bertazzoni appliances.

Above the stovetop and in the pantry, VJ panelling, painted in Dulux Wistow, serves a purely aesthetic purpose, although the blue-green colouring used throughout ensures the kitchen merges seamlessly with the rest of this exquisitely decorated home.
