“These homeowners are a professional couple who wanted their new kitchen to be modern and fresh. The room is at the rear of a large period home so our challenge was to plan around the existing fireplace, chimney and shared brick wall of the house next door. We also incorporated the laundry behind bifold doors and added a small storage room behind the sliding door. This kitchen is bathed in natural light and oriented to make the most of the views into the yard. We selected Romano white granite for the benchtops and splashback for its textural quality and earthy tones. It’s a beautiful stone that offsets the bright white of the cupboards. The large island bench and overhang is designed for casual dining and is complemented by the wall of bifold doors for easy outdoor entertaining. Contemporary large-format floor tiles were selected for their earthy tone and complement both the benchtop and Tesrol Fino Anthracite joinery.”
