Avid entertainers, the owners of this waterside home craved a luxe kitchen that would be bright and airy, easy to work in, and a drawcard for guests.
Capitalising on the stunning vista was a priority, as was addressing the rather awkward shape of the old outdated kitchen. Premier Kitchens set about delivering a modern version of a classic Shaker kitchen, something that made entertaining a breeze, established a seamless connection with the outdoor living area, and framed the beautiful harbour view to perfection. To introduce the required sense of symmetry, a poorly placed window was closed in – a move that also protected the space from the full force of the western sun – and the kitchen was closed off from the dining room.
The owners requested natural stone be used to create a design focal point in the kitchen and bar area. Stunning Calacatta Monet marble, with its swirls of pristine white, bold black and subtle grey, was chosen for the benchtops and splashback, more than fulfilling the owners’ brief. The simplicity of the modern Shaker-profile cabinetry, accented with sleek brass handles and complemented by clean-lined tapware, allows the marble to take centre stage. Brass also makes an appearance in the glass hangers in the bar area. Throughout, the look is seamless, due, in part, to the integrated side wall of joinery and the carefully curated palette of finishes and colours that elevate the space and keep everything light, bright and effortlessly elegant.
