APPLIANCES include a 600mm Bosch gas cooktop with four burners, 600mm Bosch fan-forced oven, Bosch 600mm slide-out rangehood ducted through ceiling, LG French-door refrigerator with water and icemaker, Bosch integrated dishwasher with laminate panel to match cabinetry, LG Intellowave microwave in stainless steel.
When Amanda and Steve Rackham from A.S. Design & Installation re-created their own existing kitchen, the objectives were clear. “We have a wonderful view and we wanted a lovely open feel for our kitchen as it is the first thing you see when you enter the house,” says Amanda. The kitchen space had to be re-modified rather than fully replaced. Ideally, the area needed a refreshing and durable benchtop material to turn it into the perfect kitchen space.
A tile cove is also part of the Corian® benchtop, ensuring that a smooth join exists where the glass splashback joins the benchtop. This creates an evident sleek, seamless look that is easy to keep clean. As an added feature, heat rods that act like a heat pad, have been fully integrated within the benchtop. The rods have a brushed-stainless steel finish that matches the kitchen’s accessories. They can also be lifted for easy cleaning.
Carving a Corian® drainer board directly into the benchtop has created a totally integrated sink space. Matching Corian® sinks have also been used to ensure a seamless flow between the sink and benchtop. This design also works to eliminate possible food-trap areas.
Slight modifications have also been made to the cabinetry. An appliance cabinet with a pantry has been included over the benchtop. Two additional sets of pot drawers have been created to maximise storage space. The drawers were changed to Mepla drawers to make them toddler proof and to allow them to slide easier when fully laden.
With the slight modifications to the existing kitchen and the addition of a new Corian® benchtop, A.S. Design & Installation has created a bright and functional kitchen space that is not only a feature of the home, but is also a pleasure to cook and be in. KBQ.
