Making timber the main feature of this kitchen, this clever design from Space Craft Joinery makes the most of a variety of textures, as well as providing ample storage for a growing family.
“The owners came to us with a brief to design a modern kitchen for their cottage-style home. It was important to create an inviting central hub for the family and their guests. The kitchen flows off the corridor and overlooks the dining and living area. Our aim was to design a functional kitchen with minimal visible detail and plenty of storage. We combined bright white finishes with designed spotted gum veneer to create a contemporary environment with a warm ambience. The underside of the split overhead cupboards is finished in the same veneer to emphasise this feature and to create a crisp contrast with the white gloss cabinets. Each overhead cupboard has a push-to-open mechanism. The low cupboards and drawers have finger-grips and shadowlines to accentuate the streamlined design. At 50mm thick, the stone benchtops give the kitchen a sense of understated quality and finesse.”
