Beachside Appeal: a western marvel

Gallery

This award-winning kitchen, which received the HIA 2016 Renovated Kitchen of the Year WA award, is a highlight of the beachside home

Situated in an open-plan area featuring incredibly high raked ceilings, the height of the kitchen cabinetry emphasises the grandeur of the home’s living space. Answering the homeowners’ brief for a modern design with a strong allure and use of complementary materials, the unique design features multiple layers and shapes to create interest.

The kitchen’s central island, in a stunning Calacatta marble tile, extends the benchtop over the veneer subframe. The island bench incorporates a hotplate and showcases a downdraft benchtop rangehood, which replaces the need for a canopy above. The kitchen cabinetry is very functional, with plentiful storage, a breakfast centre, as well as a highly functional bar servery, all behind concealed doors. The sink elevation contains two large sinks and double dishwashers. The laundry is concealed behind the kitchen space and incorporates a Miele washer and dryer, which are placed behind a large pocket door.

The homeowners invested in this addition to increase the size of their home and to add a functional and visually appealing central hub to the residence.
