Ace in space

While many homeowners lament a lack of space for their dream kitchen, that was certainly not the case in this room from Wood, Marble & White. In this new build, the plans allowed for an absolutely huge kitchen and accompanying butler’s pantry — but that’s not without its challenges.

When you’re working with such a large area, it can be hard to keep a sense of scale and still meet design expectations. The briefing for this room was a modern take on Hamptons style with a touch of glamour — a challenge for Wood, Marble & White’s designer, Katia Slogrove who had to capture that essence without going overboard. Thankfully, this was delivered on an outstanding level. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to that gorgeous stone splashback on the back wall. It’s luxe without being overbearing, and it allows the black Falcon appliances to act as focal points. This material is then used on the 4.6m island bench. Yes, this island is huge, allowing for ample under-bench seating and prep and serving space.
The butler’s pantry is another exercise in space, with a complete working kitchen including the tall fully integrated fridge and freezer, cooktop, oven, rangehood and dishwasher. There’s even a Zip tap and a special small-appliance station, so everything from the blender to the coffee machine is ready to go whenever you need it.

We love the detail in this room, from the island skirting to the decorative surround on the back wall that frames the entire space.

Expert Tip when you have a large space, make sure you work with a professional who can employ restraint and still deliver on style and function.

Nothing says luxury quite like treating your body to a bath while treating your eyes to a view. This stunning ensuite takes that sense of indulgence to the next level. We could spend hours luxuriating in that gorgeous freestanding bath by the window.
