Collaroy Kitchen Centre has breathed new life into this Bayview home, delivering a stunning kitchen renovation that beautifully balances modern simplicity with classic touches.
The previous space was dark and dated, featuring large terracotta tiles in a diamond pattern, grey cabinetry and black granite benchtops, which made the kitchen feel heavy. The owners, seeking a lighter, more inviting atmosphere, opted for a complete revamp.
To achieve this, the home’s antique white walls were replaced with a warm, neutral palette, and the floors were re-tiled with light travertine, instantly brightening the space. The white cabinetry chosen for the kitchen blends seamlessly with the soft hues of the walls, creating a clean and serene backdrop. However, warmth was intentionally added by incorporating timber panels around the island, creating a focal point that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. These timber elements are particularly special as they were sourced from old wood the owner had kept in storage, adding character and a sense of history to the new design.
Attention to detail was key in this project. The benchtop, with its lambs tongue edge, adds a touch of elegance, while the integrated fridge and dishwasher keep the design sleek and uninterrupted. A rangehood with matching joinery beneath ties the whole look together, and grey marbled subway tiles in the splashback introduce subtle contrast, tying in beautifully with the black accents in the pendant lights, bar stools and black Smeg oven.
The owners’ desire for a kitchen that wasn’t oversized, but still highly functional, was achieved through clever design choices that ensure ample storage for everyday essentials, without compromising on space or style. The result is a kitchen that’s not only visually appealing, but also practical for day-to-day living.
