A Family Affair | Nobby Kitchens

With a new baby and a five-year-old, the owners realised the time had come to create a more practical, open-plan kitchen and living space that would better cater for the future needs of their expanding clan.

The old kitchen was U-shaped and had a raised barback which limited the functionality and impeded workflow. Having notched up 30 years with no updates, the kitchen was in dire need of a complete redesign. Looking forward to the next 10 to 15 years, and with the creation of a perfect family kitchen in mind, the owners sought to maximise the space, introduce more storage and benchtop prep space, and include a seating area for daily meals and entertaining.

This had to be achieved, of course, without sacrificing the aesthetics. Increased flexibility and functionality was important, but so too was creating a look that was inviting and timeless. Concealed cabinets behind feature panelling provide much-needed storage, while extensive porcelain Dekton Entzo benchtops offer ample space for preparing meals.

The island bench, with its waterfall ends and Steccawood batten barback, is the focal point of the new design. The timber tones of the battens and new flooring warm the space and work in harmony with the Calacatta gold marble-inspired benchtops and shimmering metallic finish tapware and statement pendant light. The owners are thrilled with their reimagined kitchen and are looking forward to making lasting family memories there.
