A dream transformation

This home’s original kitchen wasn’t quite what the homeowners needed. It was an inefficient layout, with a dated palette and cabinetry that didn’t make the most of the home’s ultra-high ceilings. So, the homeowners approached the expert team at Let’s Talk Kitchens & Interiors for a much-needed transformation.

They reconfigured the space to create a more practical layout for the family of five, complete with a fresh and sophisticated design that pays homage to the home’s original character.

Preserving some of the home’s existing features was important to the family, so the design team balanced modern updates with the Victorian home’s timeless charm. Shaker-style cabinetry and The English Tapware Company tapware were chosen for this exact reason. An island benchtop was added to ensure plenty of prep space, extra seating space, and a discreet yet functional home for the family’s wine fridge. American Oak timber veneer in a walnut Serenastain applied to the island’s cabinetry to inject a little extra warmth to the room, while the stark green Perini subway tile splashback adds interest.

Let’s take a moment to admire the Lapitec surface in Bianco Serena, that adorns the kitchen’s splashbacks and benchtops, including the island benchtop. Effortlessly chic yet highly durable, these surfaces are a clever choice for frequently used workspaces like kitchen benchtops. Plus, they can be adapted to suit your home’s needs. In this kitchen, drain lines have been added to the surface, to ensure excess water drains straight into the sink without creating a mess on the benchtop.

The surface’s subtle yet sleek veining enhances the natural stone-like character while maintaining the durability and resilience needed for everyday family life. That’s why applying this surface to the adjoining laundry and pantry, as well as the home’s bathroom, was a no-brainer.

Sleek, sophisticated and endlessly functional – this home’s new kitchen, as well as the newly-renovated bathroom, laundry and pantry, are exactly what the homeowners need for their busy lifestyle.

Lapitec Love

We spoke to the team at Let’s Talk Kitchens & Interiors to find out why they love using Lapitec products for their client projects.

What were the needs of this particular project that made Lapitec Bianco Serena the ideal solution?

Lapitec Bianco Serena in Satin finish was selected for this project for its durability, refined aesthetics, and practical suitability for the environment. Its full-body composition and non porous surface made it an excellent choice, ensuring hygiene and easy maintenance. With exceptional resistance to stains, heat, and moisture, it delivers both long-term functionality and timeless elegance in a high-use setting. Lapitec Bianco Serena was integrated across countertops and splashbacks in the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms. Bianco Serena Satin paired beautifully with Dulux Reed Bed satin twopack cabinetry in the bathrooms, creating a harmonious balance of warmth and elegance.

The body veining delivered an outstanding visual outcome, enhancing the natural stonelike character while maintaining the durability and resilience needed for everyday family life.

How has the client reacted to the finished product?

The client has been highly impressed with the finished result, praising the material’s sophisticated appearance, durability and ease of maintenance. They have also noted how Lapitec has seamlessly integrated into their design vision while providing long-term performance benefits.

What sets Lapitec apart from other benchtop and surface materials available in Australia?

Lapitec is a full-body sintered stone, meaning it is non-porous, highly durable, and free from resins, making it an environmentally friendly and long-lasting alternative to engineered stone, porcelain, and natural stone.

How does sintered stone differ from the new engineered stone, porcelain, or natural stone?

Lapitec sintered stone is created through an advanced manufacturing process that mimics natural stone formation but eliminates weaknesses such as porosity or resin content. Unlike the new engineered stone, which contains high content of resins and it’s made by recycled glass, Lapitec is 100 per cent mineral-based, crystalline silica-free, and glass free, making it safer and more sustainable. Compared to porcelain, it has a full-body composition, ensuring consistent colour and pattern throughout the material, and unlike natural stone, it is non-porous and more resistant to environmental damage.

How does Lapitec perform against scratches, heat, and stains in high-use areas such as kitchens?

Lapitec excels in high-use areas due to its exceptional resistance to scratches, heat, and stains. It is scratch-resistant due to its dense structure, heat-resistant up to extremely high temperatures, and completely non-porous, making it resistant to stains from liquids such as wine, coffee, and oils. These qualities make it an ideal surface for kitchens, both residential and commercial.

With design trends constantly evolving, what colours, finishes, or applications make Lapitec a versatile choice for homeowners, architects and interior designers?

Lapitec is available in a variety of colours, from classic neutrals to elegant, veined patterns, and
comes in different finishes, such as lux, satin, or textured options (lithos and vesuvio), to suit a wide range of design aesthetics. Its versatility extends beyond benchtops to applications like splashbacks, flooring, cladding, and even outdoor kitchens, allowing architects and designers to create elegant spaces.
