“These clients wanted a modern and practical kitchen that would allow for lots of through traffic in the kitchen and then flow onto the meals area and outdoor living space. The existing kitchen was a U shape with a separate meals area. This provided lots of congestion. The solution we created was an island bench with integrated table, allowing plenty of through traffic and an abundance of workable bench space. To complement this we made a matching dresser at the end of room. The design was to allow maximum use of drawers, in particular the island was double-sided drawers on top of large mirrored kicker drawers. The mirrored kickers give a nice floating look with the additional height, making the kick drawers practical. Two-pack cabinets add a quality feel, combined with granite benchtops, enhanced by the mirrored splashback behind the cooktop. The mirrored splashback also allows the cook to see what is happening behind them and admire the outside garden.”
