This kitchen project adds a touch of the traditional to an otherwise modern kitchen, opening up a small space and maximising function. The previous kitchen was a dark poly kitchen occupying an L-shaped space with limited storage and a very small stainless steel island. The homeowner wanted to maximise storage and create an open-plan space where the family could interact while cooking or relaxing on the couch. The large island is one of the highlights of the new space, extremely practical as a working bench and offers an abundance of storage for the homeowners. The continued use of Calcutta Blanco smart stone around the kitchen unites the space and provides a sense of elegance in the room. The steel tap offers a touch of the traditional, the lovely curved shape complementing the matte black mixer beside it. Mixing modernity into the area, the ILVE oven, cooktop and rangehood are perfect for heavy use of the space. Overall, the design is stunning, from the matching white handles to the clever design of the microwave shelf incorporated into the island.

The homestead is situated on a rise at the edge of town, suiting the kitchen’s aesthetic perfectly. Once the dated, ’80s-style space was relocated to another area in the home, it was opened up to take advantage of the view through the rear glass windows and outside entertainment area. Designers worked to create a space that was both balanced and functional. The island bench is the statement piece, sitting in front of the grand rear elevation of the chimney breast. Carefully chosen turned posts, stop flute capping, pencil bead pilasters, corbels and glass display cabinets were integrated into the bench. An important factor for the homeowners was being able to enjoy the view of the undulating countryside from the rear of the home.

This sleek grey-blue kitchen combines traditional with modern, contemporary design; perfect for this gorgeous new Adelaide home. The bold grey-blue colouring of the Shaker-inspired cabinetry creates an edgy pairing of old and new, an impression enhanced by the subway tiling, display shelving and antique-style pendant lights. To ramp up the luxe factor and set the clock to timeless, the benchtops are surfaced in Fabstone, with a generous overhang on the island bench to fit ample seating for entertaining. Knitted out with copious drawer storage, this luxurious masterpiece is satisfaction by design.

This Melbourne kitchen combines classic styling with modern elements, ensuring it will stand the test of time for years and years to come. One of the standout features is the custom-designed chimney alcove, adding authenticity to the room and taking it from a good-looking kitchen to a great one. The original flooring is also a highlight and how it has been considered when renovating the kitchen, as well as the patching of the timber panelling on the walls. The Shaker-style cabinetry is a true nod to the past and complements the owners’ artworks, something they asked the team to be conscious of when updating their kitchen. The American white oak timber benches add extra warmth and help tie in with the flooring, ensuring the feel of ‘old meets new’ is carried throughout the room. They say fashion fades, but true style is forever – and that’s certainly true of this incredible kitchen.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, and that’s certainly true when it comes to this space. The stylish, classy feel of this big beautiful kitchen carries through to the other rooms in the penthouse, thanks to that beautiful timber-grain cabinetry that flows from the bedroom to the laundry and the built-in study nook behind the main kitchen. All appliances were placed in a way which did not crowd the kitchen. Handleless doors were integrated to further enhance the sense of roominess. It is the little things that make this place extra-special including the gold highlights from the tapware in the kitchen. This is the perfect style for those looking for a contemporary living experience.

Complementary colours have never been so boldly put to work. Sharp lines and offset shapes integrate a concert of textures and finishes, to create a kitchen that cooks, dines and dazzles. Expert joinery was required to produce the feature backing wall, which not only echoes great modernist architecture, but also conceals cupboards and drawers, a fridge and a freezer. Two wall-mounted V-ZUG ovens front the purple cabinetry, which lead, past golden storage sills, into a gleaming bulkhead – spotted with LED lights and weighted with a twin Qasair rangehood. A V-ZUG induction cooktop tops the magical island bench below. Purple veining in the New York marble is lit up from within, creating an atmospheric masterpiece, launching lines and light around the room. Essastone in Black Truffle extends around the marble for a dine-in option and so the cook has company. Matching Bone White Essastone tops the adjacent bench and gives soft contrast to the gold Oliveri sink and polished brass Perrin & Rowe tapware. Swathes of culinary tech, storage and strutting space meet daring design in this truly avant-garde kitchen.
