It is no surprise that Hybrid flooring has quickly become popular over the last few years – it’s a great product!

This advanced flooring technology employs the best features of laminate and vinyl products, resulting in a water-resistant surface that is both suitable for commercial use and residential living.

Hybrid floors are Particularly favoured by designers, builders and savvy home renovators for their high performance abilities. They’re often chosen due to their under-foot comfort and ease of installation–making them a popular choice among homeowners who want an interior style that rivals genuine Australian timber or European oak flooring.

What is Hybrid Flooring Made From?

Hybrid wooden planks are created by blending multiple materials, typically plastic, limestone, and wood flour or bamboo dust. The resulting product has a timber-like appearance and feel.

The Hybrid layer consists of a protective coating, wood-look décor, tough vinyl wear layer, rigid or semi-rigid composite substrate, and pre-attached underlay. This type of installation is ideal for use with floating surfaces.

What’s At The Core?

Embelton offer two ranges of Hybrid flooring core structures – 5.5mm Atlantis Stone Polymer Core (SPC) and 8mm Aqua-tuf Wood Plastic Composite (WPC).

Atlantics SPC employs limestone, PVC, and stabilizers to create a dense and rigid core. Due to its resistance to indentation and marks, Atlantis SPC is especially well-suited for high-traffic areas such as hallways or entrance ways. AquaTuf WPC combines limestone with wood dust; this blend produces a softer feel beneathfoot while still maintaining superior acoustics.

In a positive development for the environment, leftover scraps from both products are recycled and used to create new batches of product. This process prevents any loss or waste, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Hybrid flooring is a popular choice for busy households because it is affordable, easy to clean, durable and waterproof. It’s the perfect solution for homes with children and pets.

Hybrid wood plank flooring is available in a variety of stylish wood decors, such as stunning oak and cherry designs. Additionally, Hybrid planks can be installed in various layout patterns such as staggered, diagonal or even herringbone. The integrated foam backing system makes DIY installation easy for the homeowner too.
