It’s not hard to understand why the great chateaus and grand residences from around the world feature parquetry throughout their interiors.

Parquetry makes a stunning impression wherever it is applied. Dating back centuries, parquetry was installed as a solid timber block of various sizes to create intricate patterns of great visual interest. Indeed, parquetry has proven to be an elegant and ageless choice that has stood the test of time.

Preference Floors, the Australian-owned-and-operated company specialising in wholesale distribution of a range of exclusive and proprietary hard flooring products and accessories, has its finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to parquetry. The company offers two parquetry ranges: De Marque Oak and Pronto Oak, with herringbone and chevron constituting the most popular patterns.

The ranges have been recreated as engineered parquetry to provide the same wonderful visual impact without any of the drawbacks associated with traditional parquetry. In short, these
floors deliver enhanced stability and ease of installation thanks to the design construction
of engineered parquetry.

Engineered parquetry flooring features a hardwood oak-wear layer of either 4mm or 6mm permanently bonded onto a multi-ply hardwood core. This method of construction provides a more durable and dimensionally accurate finish that enables surface refurbishment should accidents or isolated wear and tear occur at the site. Depending on floor height constraints, sizes available include 14mm, 15mm and 21mm widths, and lengths from 90mm–120mm depending on the pattern selected.

Pronto engineered oak flooring is available in wide planks as well as the herringbone parquetry option. Pronto planks are manufactured using a Hi-Spec 3mm visual grade. The wear layer is then bonded to an 11mm multi-layer plywood substrate. This trusted method of manufacturing provides a stable and hardy floor with an eye-catching aesthetic for a cleaner, sharper look.

Preference Floors also offers Australian timber engineered parquetry in spotted gum and blackbutt, with these varieties commonly specified in heritage settings or for traditional renovations and new builds. Whatever your style, parquetry flooring is guaranteed to make a spectacular statement.
